Join the Board of Directors
The purpose of the Board of Directors is to promote organization, determine policies, procedures and regulations for the conduct of the agency; to raise funds to finance the organization and its programs; and to monitor organizations performance.
Golden Crescent CASA serves nine counties and we would like to have a minimum of one director from each county. We currently have openings in Lavaca and Refugio counties.
Qualifications
• Need to be a resident of our service region
• Reflective of the diverse demographics of the geographic area
• Be able to serve a minimum of three years, maximum of 9 years
• Pass criminal and Child Protective Services background checks
Responsibilities and powers of the board of directors
1. Establish policies for administering the program and services that are in harmony with the purpose of the agency.
2. Employ and evaluate the performance of the Executive Director.
3. Assist in securing funds required for organizational expenses
4. Ensure that the financial affairs of the agency are conducted in a responsible way and in accordance with established policies.
Duties
• Attend a board orientation session within the first three month of applying
• Actively promote the goals and mission of GC CASA
• Become informed about agency programs policies and services
• Prepare for, attend and participate in board meetings
• Support the Executive Director
• Actively serve on at least one committee and submit agenda items
• Participate in the fund raising efforts and make an annual donation
• Not miss more than three regularly scheduled board meetings without notifying the President prior to the meeting
• Become familiar about the volunteer advocate role by attending volunteer training within one year of being elected
• Facilitate at least one awareness session within their community
• Recruit prospective Volunteer advocates and Board members
• Participate in volunteer recognition efforts
• Assist the ED in applying to Commissioner’s Court for your county
• Contact individuals and corporations in your county for donations and support
• Establish a fund raising opportunity (or continue current one) in your county
• Attend advisory board meetings in your county if applicable
• Evaluate annual organization performance and maintain progress towards goals
• Avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest that might embarrass CASA |
